Het jaarlijkse Santa’s Radio Club Special Event OH9S
Sinterklaas is bijna het land weer uit. Dus door met de kerstman. En dat is goed nieuws voor fervente FT8 gebruikers. Dit jaar is Santa actief vanaf een QTH 200 kilometer boven de poolcirkel. En wel tot 8 december. Het jaarlijkse Santa’s Radio Club Special Event vindt dit jaar plaats met de call OH9S. En de activiteit zal voornamelijk op de banden 160 – 6 meter zijn. In alle modes. Inclusief de FT8 mode.
QSL via OQRS van het Club Log (bij voorkeur) of LoTW. Contacten worden automatisch bevestigd via het bureau.
Vanwege de verwachte slechte radiocondities, zal OH9S de activiteit richten op FT8. En het station zal werken vanuit het noordelijkste Santa-station in Finland. Meerdere stations zullen tijdens dit evenement in de lucht zijn.
Wanneer en op welke frequentie OH9S zal actief zal zijn zal afhankelijk zijn van de propagatie. De locatie is het Levi holiday resort. En dat ligt ongeveer 200 kilometer boven de Poolcirkel in Lapland.

Santa’s Radio Club Special Event OH9S
Santa’s radio amateur station will be active from Finnish Lapland. Unlike some other stations we are really located in Northern part of the country. OH9S is not having any remote stations. And we let the nature decide where we can make the contacts. The length of Finland is more than 1100 km. So besides the weather also band conditions vary much. Yes, we know it is not easy to contact us while we are mostly operated above the Arctic circle. But that’s part of the game!
In 2018 the activity time will be 1st December – 8th December. Our location is in Levi holiday resort around 200km above the Arctic circle. OHC is 907 (Kittilä).
We are running many stations. Activity will be 160m-6m. Possible even some aurora qso’s will take place on 2m. Due to expected poor radio conditions OH9S will focus on FT8.
